Made in Germany. Child's bowl. Mother said she ate from this bowl when she was a toddler beginning 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio. Mom didn't say where it came from or that her older sister of 3 years had it first.
With the help of keramikos & fhrjr2, This bowl is an Antique SCHUMANN Bavaria LITTLE BO PEEP Alphabet Nursery Rhyme Child's Porringer pre-1921. Mystery Solved.

      Hi, Alfie21. :-)

So this is your mother's childhood porringer, huh? That's so nice. <3

I found one that looks quite a bit like yours:

      *snip*

Little Bo Peep designed by D.E. McNicol. These Holdfast plates were made in East Liverpool, Ohio from around 1890 to 1925. 7 1/2" diameter. Has illustration and a verse.

      *snip*

Now, why yours has a back stamp that says merely "Germany," I don't know.

Here's another (but no, there is no provenance other than the "Germany" back stamp):

      *snip*

Vintage Child’s ABC Porcelain Dish Bowl Little Bo Peep Nursery Rhyme Germany

Schumann made one, but while the central image looks the same, the other decals are different (and of course, it has a Schumann back stamp):

      *snip*

Antique C.1910 Shumann Bavaria Dresden "LITTLE BO PEEP" Nursery Rhyme Series Childs Alphabet Feeding Bowl Dish. Measures 1 1/2" tall x 7 1/2" diameter

Simply being marked Germany indicates it was made before the tariff act. That gives you an idea the age is as stated above. After the act it would require saying, Made in Germany etc.

Thank you Keramikos for all the info. Either a McNicol or Shumann. Thanks! 1910ish. Mother loved this bowl.

      Fhrjr2 thanks for this info.

      Alfie21, You're welcome. :-)

What puzzles me is (1) the absence of any makers mark (2) the presence of that central image of Bo Peep in your Germany-marked porringer which to my eye seems identical to the one in the D.E. McNicol porringer.

Who originated it? I don't know, but here is a Schumann-marked pitcher with the same image:

      *snip*

Exquisite "Little Bo-Peep" Milk pitcher made in porcelain by the Schumann Porcelain Company of Arzberg, Bavaria in 1918. The front of the pitcher shows Little Bo-Peep looking for her sheep that she has lost and the back has the complete Nursery Rhyme.

      *snip*

The bowl is a Antique SCHUMANN Bavaria LITTLE BO PEEP Alphabet Nursery Rhyme Child's Porringer as it matches the bowl on the right seen at:
      https://www.ebth.com/items/4016389-little-bo-peep-children-s-plates
Made before 1921 , per fhrjr2. I googled what fhrjr2 mentioned & discovered 'The Emergency Tariff of 1921 of USA' required German products made after 1921 be stamped "Made in Germany". Prior to 1921, items were stamped just "Germany" as on this Shumann Bowl. Thank you Keramikos and fhrjr2 for your help!!

      Thanks keramikos!!
The pitcher has exactly the same artwork!
      Check this out: https://www.ebth.com/items/4016389-little-bo-peep-children-s-plates
Same plate but diff maker mark:
Post by fhrjr2 said about the Tariff Act requiring "Made in Germany" after 1921, at least, instead of just "Germany" .
