First world war army hat

Military Hats and Caps9 of 2211st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment Beret Can anyone identify this hat? It belonged to my great great uncle Sandor who lived in Budapest in the 1880s.

      It's a helmet. Probably American.

      It looks like it was for the AEF Combat Engineers from WW1. Beautiful helmet.
