Got this a while ago on TM when I was in my uranium glass hunting phase, it came with 6 or 7 lovely Vaseline glass items which I was going to post but thought I really need to do this at night when I can light them up with the UV torch better. I always thought it was a glass bowl but not a very stable one. Anyway I started looking at it again checking with the UV (no it still isn't) and realised there was a symbol and some writing on it. So off to Mr Google, at first I and her indoors thought the symbol was a Nessie head (she has Scottish parents) but that wasn't working so I just used the RD52434 and it came up with a trail on "the Glass Message Board" (now there is somewhere that needs more looking at by me) as been the boat stand in Opal for a Sowerby Boat pat 42947, the boats aren't common but the stands are even less. So there you see it right way up in the last photo and as quite a few out there already know the symbol is Sowerby's Embossed Peacock head :)
Really? A boat stand! Ok by me but sorta strange.
I like it as a tray and it is has a bit of an Asian look to it, like for sushi or something.
Boat stand. Never in a million years would I have guessed that.
Apparently that RD52434 number is from 1886:

Here's a boat/stand set in what looks like the same color:

Thanks for the links esp to the picture of boat with stand, I had found a blue one but not the same colour!
BHIFOS, You're welcome. :-)
I gave you a text snippet especially because it's an eBay listing, and those have a way of disappearing. You might want to download copies of the pictures.
