Bought this stunning silver filigree and bone dagger and have a few questions to clear up.
So help is needed from the CW experts.
    1. The hallmarks. They look Arabic ?
    2. Is it a bone blade and an agate handle ?
    3. Possible age ?

I cannot answer any of the questions but I have questions of my own: how big it? Is it ‘brooch’ size or real ‘dagger’ size.
I don’t usually have interest in knives but yours is so lovely and unusual, I can’t help but love it. :-)

Oh thank you. Its 3", so shouldn't do any damage !

So it must be worn as a brooch, but for what reason??? Maybe just as a novelty? Do you suppose it was used as a toothpick?
I hope someone knows all the answers!

Maybe and that would explain why there's no safety chain. Neil

i am an rookie in this, so i have to guess , but i think the reason there is no chain , because it is a pin brooch, not curved handle, heavy ornamental bolster ,
i think this a type of Koummya Jambiya, but not from Yemen, something like Morroco , i think its, vintage , the sterling mark is missing and the more ancient Mofit mark is missing, probably not related to familly

not an traditional dagger pin brooch which a mother gives to the daughter when she becomes WOMAN
because the degree of attachment and processing determines the family status and this is missing , so i think this is vintage

i am just guessing so i could be completely wrong

addendum did some sloppy work again for silvermark see ebay NICE VINTAGE SILVER BROOCH ARABIC MARKINGS TO BACK and the arabic registration of the mark is from the 60 ties on probably amalgameted or plated or of lesser silver ammount
