    IronLace
    (930 items)

I always enjoy adding a piece to my collection that takes a decor I already have, but applies it to a different shape.
This example of overshot glass by Kralik has the same decor as a basket I've owned for many years.
Made from clear glass shading to green, it has an overshot texture which is very rough.
The vase measures 21.5 cm tall, 4.5 cm across the top rim, & 5.5 cm across the base.
There is applied decoration of a green branch & two bright red flowers.
    Circa 1900.

Wow beautiful Vase and Basket, which do you choose as a favorite?..... Maybe the Vase.

      Many thanks, Bernard!
It's pretty difficult for me to choose...baskets in general are a favourite form in glass, but this vase was a great buy as well. I think both are super!

These pieces are incredible!! You have one of the most amazing glass collections I've ever seen!

That is so kind of you to say, Scott, & I'm pleased to think that the collection I've had so much fun putting together over the decades can bring enjoyment to other folks as well...makes it even better, I think!

It's looks so fresh and pretty. I really like the green shading in the overshot, it stops it looking tacky (as if Kralik ever could but I couldn't think of a better word).

      Many thanks, Karen!
Yes, I like the shaded, or spreading colour technique in glass very much - it does provide an extra dimension to a piece, in this one it seems to make the vase appear taller as well.

What a lovely décor, the limited palette gives a stand out quality to both pieces.

      Thanks so much, Peggy!
Yes, this is a really nice decor, & after buying the basket around 15 years ago, it was great to find another example. Hope there will be another, too...

Wow! That's serendipity! I love everything about those pieces.
