These "Lavaluna" glasses are rarely found in stores, they were only made sporadically and made to order. Mostly these are development and test pieces. The base glass consists of sulfur-iron-containing black glass with reduced burnt-in metal salt solutions. They are available in wonderful designs, often red and blue. Since this technique robs the glass of its transparency, they did not become a bestseller, and it stayed with the test pieces. The pieces are very often provided with an incised number, which indicates that it is an experimental series. The Lavaluna technology was then applied to WMF's ceramic production.
