Last Friday we bought this wonderful liquor set in red orange color. There are similar ones in CW as Harrach or probably Harrach. The most similar was posted by Philmac51 https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/264989-harrach-tango-liquor-tableware?in=442-unsolved-mysteries and another with the same shape and stopper without the metal weave basket. I would appreciate any comment. On the Philmac post Larksel comments “In Passau Glasmuseum, the same set (without stopper) is classified as Loetz”. Kairolmate has posted another similar set in pink with black prunts, the proportions of this pitcher are very different (compare the stopper and the handle with the overall size…. ).
The one of Philmac has the pitcher in orange like ours and has the basket….but our basket has a label very visible in the middle that says Germany. The mugs in Philmac post are red the only four we have are from the left to the right in a a range from red to orange…. And it came over a lovely blue tray that is not Tango glass.

Congratulations !!! I think the Germany would suggest that the metal work was done there rather than in Czechoslovakia. Interesting it is. Is the tray original to the set ???

Lötz liqueur sets are available in this color. The same set is in the Passau Glass Museum in a showcase with Tango glass, but apart from Lötz, there are also pieces from other manufacturers. The plug shape looks very much like Schliersee. The beaker shape was also made in the same way at Poschinger and other glass huts. I tend to go to the Bavarian Forest with its many glassworks, less than 50 km from Klostermühle. The "Germany" brand also speaks in favor of this possibility.

Thanks for the comment Vetraio50. Yes it is original in the sense that the owner has got the whole set at once.... but I have doubts.... Yes you know I think that this set was done just before the first great war..... so probably Germany doesn't mean to much....probably a refinery that put the weave basket and the tray .....

It is a lovely set and having the small cups make it very special as they are are so rarely found.

Thanks Karen (sklo42) for your kind comment, yese it has been a rare finding. You know here between 1910 and 1920 there were a lot of german tableware

This tango glass was made over a long period of time, I think from 1908/1910. The drawings with the stopper from the Regenhütte and Schlierseehütte are from 1913/14. I think that these were manufactured until the end of the 1920s (parallel to Lötz) or even later.

The set is beautiful but I can't say anything about a maker. However I'm watching a sugar bowl on a polish bid page (hoping the price is down)which is made of exactly the same colour glass and has similar mounting,so probably it
is made by the same maker.

Recently I have been doing some research into the Harrach version of the tango glass decors during 1920s. There is much documentation regarding shapes, colors, items, and overall style of Harrach tango.
The biggest problem is that for some reason this specific glass is not well known, and the number of pieces still around is limited, you can find wine glasses in the yellow and red with black stems and feet, easily enough, but the sets, the decanters, the interesting designs are much harder to find.

The few pieces I have are great quality crystal type colored glass. I did come across some documentation for this carafe with metal basket weave.

Here are links I have for it.

These show in a mixed order: a Prague glass museum exhibit of tango glass with a few items, a yellow glass set with black prunts with the same shape, a Passau exhibit of tango glass I believe is of several producers, a Tango Sklo exhibit of Harrach glass in 2012 and a yellow Harrach wine glass in the tango colors.

Thanks a lot Truthordare for the relevant information, here in my city Córdoba, there is not much Tango Glass, but in Buenos Aires it was much appreciated at that time, was the expression of modernism, a new era.... the fathers of my father were living there between 1920 and 1930 and they told me a lot of things.... about glass and that pretty things...

Well, all I can add to these comments is that I think the orange color on the blue is absolutely awesome, the two color compliment one another in such a way that it is striking. great set.

This is a nice set, the beehive stopper appears to be made for a few companies (Kralik, Welz) they could be made separately and sold to glass houses as supplies like glass rods? - just a theory

I think the plate makes it a fantastic find and does appear to be cased (which would make Loetz a contender).
I have a vase made of solid opaline glass that has the same basket weave design... this I believe was used on many types of glassware (similar to enamel decorating using blanks from many companies)
    27. kivatinitz kivatinitz, 4 years ago
kralik1928. Thanks for your comment, you know you have interpreted what I wanted to suggest......I think that the "tray" may be of local production..... there has been always glass production in Argentine (not porcelain). Is yours the yellow vase with the basket that can be found on google images? Yes it is very similar the nest....

      Hi Sylvie,
I don't really buy into the Loetz connection. Not sure why, possibly the utilitarian nature of these things, but really, did anyone use them, and for what?. I still think Harrach is a good contender. But who knows really. Beautiful and Bohemian XX

Thanks philmac51, I also think that Harrach is a possibility, and like the theory that the stopper could have been provided by another provider
