This is the WIZARD tape measure, PAT No. 1,964,280, model No.686, made by THE LUFKIN RULE CO. of SAGINAW, MICH. In a small round case, it has a stainless steel blade which has a short lengthways crack near its end, but it still extends and retracts. I don't know if the small button in its center is supposed to be a blade lock or not, it doesn't move now and I don't want to try to force it.
Found recently around here in a boxful of stuff from years ago, I don't have the slightest idea now where/when I first got it...?
AnythingObscure, Cool. :-)

I have one almost exactly alike. Mine is called a Mechanic's Pal. It was in my house my entire life. I have no idea where my parents got it, but it was the "junk drawer tape measure for as long as I remember. (I'm 60!)
It's the only one my dad had. I remember him measuring for wallpaper or wall paneling for the living room adding up measurements in 6 foot increments!
Now, it'as on my shelf right next to me when I need a measure!
