WMF: Ikora "Tango Glass" 1935

Here I would like to introduce some glasses in so-called "Tango colors" from WMF. Since there is still confusion with Lötz-Glas, I put the article in this place. These glasses with the handles were available in three sizes, red and green, each with a black rim, WMF model numbers E 626, E627 and E628. They definitely go back to a Venini design by Vittorio Zecchin ("Libellula") from 1922. Like almost all glassworks, WMF has taken "suggestions" from other companies. The funnel-shaped vases, model numbers E 629, E630 and E631, were often mistakenly mistaken for Josef Hoffmann's design for Lötz in the past. However, there is a possibility that WMF, which had long trade relations with Lötz, also copied something here. Since this color palette is unusual for WMF, it has been speculated in the past that this product line may have been commissioned from Lötz. There are no records of this, however, because the planned volume "Lötz Series Volume IV / 1 Customer Orders for Glass Patterns from 1873 to 1939" has not been published. Furthermore, the red of the funnel vases is different from the red at Lötz, this is brighter than the rather darker red at WMF. At that time there was no longer any verifiable business relationship between the two companies, which ended in the mid-1920s. The vase with the handles was also made in two sizes in Myra glass, model number J 276 and J 277. There is also a funnel-shaped vase in a Medusa variation, model number E 330/3451.
