I would be afraid of the woman who lugged this thing around, imagine getting hit up side the head by it. Not sure how old it is or what brand it is, any experts out there feel free to comment. I have a collection of them this being the largest Many are not marked in any way other than the size number.

Very nice! Reminiscent of the old hat polishing irons. I wonder if this was used in some sort of clothing or hat manufacturing process?

I have no idea, awful heavy to be ironing clothes with all day. I have some very small irons, some call them either salesmen samples, children's or finishing irons. (like for collars) This one is definitely designed for a particular use.

Yep, one that size and shape was definitely designed for a particular use. Hopefully, someone here on CW will be able to identify what it was designed for. This one's got my curiosity up.

I'm afraid many of the items I have collected that I will never know much about, Google is pretty much worthless when it comes to research, everyone who would know is long gone.

The guy we interviewed for this article has a YouTube page of videos about all sorts of sad irons. Very informative.
