My newest Loetz features a known but undocumented Loetz decor in Candia colored glass that is caged in Crete (green) with an iridescent finish. It is in wonderful condition, with not even the tiniest chip to the six feet. A vase with a very similar cage design is shown on Loetz.com in the Neptune decor, so I estimate that this decor is also roughly contemporary with Neptune, and probably dates to about 1903. Sadly, many of the Loetz paper patterns for this period are missing, so we may never know the name of this decor. The vase measures 5-3/4” (14.6cm) tall, and has a polished pontil and fire polished rim.
Love it. Been watching the similar vase now on LiveAuctioneers.
Thanks, Sammyz - me too! It's a good example; odd seeing two in such a short period of time!
Such a beautiful vase!!
Thanks so much Scott, I appreciate it!
Despite the appearance of two of them at the same time, these are quite rare. Very nice piece!
Thanks so much, Warren - I appreciate knowing that! :)
So organic almost alive. Beautiful piece !
Wow, Michelle, what a truly outstanding piece! Super special!
Very nice pies, I know very few of them.
I remained with my mouth open in sign of admiration
Magnificent! Lucky you.
Hi Mike, I agree - almost like some kind of sea creature, to me! :)
Thanks so much Marin, I am so glad you like it!
Thank you LoetzForever, I appreciate hearing that.
Kivatinitz, that is so kind of you - thank you! :)
Thanks so much Wow22!
The lovely thing about 'your' Loetz Michelle is that they're never run of the mill.
