Athearn used to be known for their high quality lost cost kits. I think in the 1990s the HO gauge stopped being for kids and being for adults. So Athearn replaced the kits for the higher quality and higher cost Ready to Roll series. The price tripled I think but these are still affordable. I just looked up the prices on these and it looks like I stole this.
The tractors are the Model B. They were made from 1938-1957, the real ones that is. The model was released in 2002 and not sure how long the run was. The car is a 40 foot flat car. That was pretty much the standard size back then. Would be pulled by steam or early diesels. I have a GP9 pulling it which would be period correct.
Tomorrow's post will be a gnome I believe. There will be no seating during the Description section so be sure and arrive early.
The Geep looks like she's had a hard life :)
Very cool and, from what I can see, the GP9 looks great!! I'd love to see the entire train.
Thank you very much BHIFOS. It has been weathered.
Thank you very much Scott. I shall get a proper train together.
