I found this in an attic about 7 years ago.
I thought I saw it in a Bruce Lee Biography
I'm not exactly sure the background on this.
I would love any info someone could please give on to where it originated from Thank you
are you shure there are only 2 symbols ?? it has to form Wan Shou Wu Jiang most likely otherwise you cant solve the rebus, everlasting long life, where Wan = 10,000, Shou = long life and Wu Jiang = without limits
design is Bao Xiang Hua, lotus scroll, probably from 1950 on
There are more symbols I will take more pictures tomorrow Thank you this has always make me feel really good
i don,t need the other symbols because the rebus is always the same ,you need 4 different symbols
I went ahead and took the photos of it can you tell me the meaning of the other symbols please?
well i thought i explained it all but no sweat we start all over
sometimes “Ceci n'est pas une pipe ( magritte )
the first one is shou which means lastingness
the second is jiang which means boundery
the third one wu which mean no
the fourth means 10000
you have to combine the two symbol the jiang significance with the wu significance finite
the shit hits the fan concerning the symbole wan which means 10000
concerning the wan symbole we got an probleme because it reads 10000, actually this is sort of scholastic discussion a sort of like in the bible mattheus 18-21 the meaning of you have to forgive 7 x 7 times, but the actual meaning is the extrapolation namely more then numeral
so actually the meaning is i hope you love long and get everything out of life
the origin of this pieces are a very long time , but in isolated symbols
and there was an revival during the tongzhi period for the happy few high eyebrows people who used it mostly for wedding gifts
this one is probably somewhat later then 1950 maybe 1980
that will do i hope greetings Waki
live in stead of love
