HUGE DELFTS BLAUW CHARGER. These plates came from Holland when my great grandparents came to America in 1921. Growing up these hung side by side in my grandmas house. The man is Rembrandt's taskmaster and the woman is said to be Elisabeth Bas or his housekeeper. My parents were given the plates when my grandmother passed away. I have inherited one and my brother the other one. I don't know of any collectors.

I think both plates have the year letter Ag which stands for 1911. Both plates are painted by J.D. van Velzen ? 1886-1938

The first plate would represent Elisabeth Bas, the widow of a wealthy innkeeper. The original was long considered a Rembrandt's own painting but is now believed to be a painting by Ferdinand Bol (attributed to)

The second plate shows the portrait of shipbuilder of the VOC Jan Rijcksen. The original is a painting by Rembrandt

Both plates were made at the Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles Delft in the Netherlands
