I replied to this post a short while ago. I provided a link to the Patent named in the post. It's for a trump indicator, and a game record. Literally.

So here it is again. Mystery solved.

      Nice Trump/whist marker.

Thanks Gillian for the reponse and patent research. Per my question I'd still like to determine what specific card game would have use for this.

Thanks Collectables59 for your response and Whist answer. I'll consider it "mystery solved."

It could be used for any card game where a trump is called and games are counted. I looked up Whist and Bridge - but the Patent is clearly universal.

      Tosan, Cool. :-)

Gillian, Woo hoo! Excellent find on that patent listing.

Yes, it could be used for a number of card games, which is probably why a game name wasn't spelled out in the patent.

As to Whist, that always makes me think of Phileas Fogg (David Niven) in "Around the World in 80 Days."

Fogg has been followed and his trip plans repeatedly sabotaged by the unscrupulous Inspector Fix (Robert Newton). Upon discovering the latter's treachery, Fogg's crowning, dismissive insult is that Fix plays "an abominable game of Whist." };-)
