n China, the peach is considered a blessed fruit, a symbol of longevity and immortality.

According to Chinese mythology, the goddess of the palace near Xi-wang-mu, the wife of the Jade Emperor and the patron saint of Taoist sages, called The Immortals, was growing a peach tree. She revered this tree for its significance as a source of immortality.

The Immortals organized a so-called "Peach Feast." The peach tree bloomed only once every few thousand years and it took three thousand years for the fruit to ripen. They had waited for this event for six thousand years!

The peach is an emblem of the Chinese god of longevity. He holds in one hand a magic peach of immortality and in his other a staff of ginseng root and a gourd with pure crystalline water, the symbol of life.
