I have no idea what these are off of, my guess is part of a horse drawn wagon. The patent is June 1891 so it limits some things it's not from. Please comment of you know or even if you have an idea. It's a matching pair with one missing a loop. I bought them because I thought they looked old and neat even though I hadn't seen the patent date or knew what they were. I only paid $5 at an estate sale at an old farmhouse, pretty good price in my opinion.

      crewnail, Cool. :-)

Yeah, that embossed patent information does limit the age of the piece.

I thought I'd take a peek into the USPTO, hoping that June 1891 was a relatively quiet month. Maybe it was, but there were 2243 patents issued:

      https://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=0&p=1&f=S&l=50&Query=ISD%2F6%2F1%2F1891-%3E6%2F30%2F1891&d=PALL

I just don't have the will to look at that many patents. :-(
