Several years ago our fellow CW friend drove to see my cousin in Ardath Sask Canada (walksoftly ) He took some photo's for me and in them is this tractor of sorts or road grader ? I have no clue but looks mighty old and still in use . Very interesting photo . Anyone chime in and tell me what it is . I lived on a farm in US but don't remember seeing one but I believe it is older than me .

Thank you vinyl ! it may have been used to clear trails for dinosaurs lol

Good Links Dave . Very close but we can say it is a road grader . The wheels are odd too .

That looks like it Tallcakes . Same wheels and 3 steering wheels or wheels to operate something . Mammoth sounds right :-) I suppose a farmer could have used to level his land for planting . Thank you :-)

Like the 20th century was just beginning when this monster came out on the "highways". It looks totally steampunk and reminds me of that movie was it with will smith in the 90's. Could you imagine that all chromed beautifully would be a masterpiece of art, maybe some black touches !~
As it sits it still is a work of art !

My friend had a lineup of mainly gargantuan tractors on the long driveway to his home, sitting 50 feet to the lake, no basement, but 2 showcase fireplaces in his home, one circular with seats 3/4 around, the other great room had a wall of stone, with fireplace, at the time I never had a home to outfit like that!~

Your friend sounds like he had quite a fantastic place ! I would use this grader as a piece of yard art for sure . Thank you Phil you always have a kind word for all CW folks and that makes you special to all of us !

Hi Maniken, yes that is a pull grader. They didn't have a motor they were pulled by horses or a tractor usually. The big wheels up where the operator would stand do two things. They turn the scraper blade left and right and also raise and lower it for proper depth. I recall seeing them in use long ago and far away.

Y'all better believe I'd park a thing like that prominently right in front of my house (where it'd likely take up most of the space in the yard, that is) no matter WHAT my neighbors/association would think about it...

[because I needed something heavy to hook the dog's leash to when I'm sitting out there, of course...??? <LOLOL>]

What a WONDERFUL huge old assemblage of cast iron it is!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

fhr I can imagine 2 work horses pulling this monster . It would be a sight for sure . It intrigues me and how it was engineered . Love the look .
I still have you 1st on my dance card ! hugs

AnythingObscure I enjoyed your comment and got a good laugh when you said you would hook the dogs up to it . I had a vison of some huge wild dogs chained to it lol . I would put it in my yard too if I still had my farm ! Thanks for stopping and making me smile .
