SPRIGGS DAIRY...BLOOMINGTON INDIANA & INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA MILK BOTTLES

Pictured here are two local milk bottles from SPRIGGS DAIRY...BLOOMINGTON INDIANA[so I thought]. As in many cases, local milk bottles can be highly sought after items. The original dairy building was less than two miles from my house here in Bloomington. These two bottles were in a local "on line" auction recently. These variations are rarely offered for sale, so I decided to attempt to buy both bottles. Luckily I won both of them.

I had heard stories that SPRIGGS DAIRY attempted to expand their operations north into the Indianapolis area long ago for a brief time. For over 35 years, I heard that SPRIGGS DAIRY had a few bottles that were embossed INDIANAPOLIS IND. on the bottom of the bottle. Other collectors thought there were two or three known bottles to exist. I had never seen such a bottle....until (to my surprise & excitement), this tall quart was acquired with INDIANAPOLIS IND. embossed on the bottom. I had unknowingly bought this super rare local milk bottle.

Now I can confidently say these RARE Indianapolis Indiana versions actually exist. The thrill of the hunt continues.......
