In the sales brochure and in the hand-colored brochure of WMF from 1928, this bowl is listed under the number 22 / 179a, 18 cm, blue and red. In contrast, the one shown here is pink and turquoise with silver foil inclusions. Its price at that time was 17 Reichsmarks, which shows that the bowl was one of the company's expensive "Unica" products and was made for the "upscale" household.
Here is an excerpt from the original text from this sales prospectus:
"The Ikora crystal occupies a special position among the types of crystal: it is a multicolored, encrusted crystal, the manufacture of which required years of costly experiments in the glassworks of the Würtembergische Metallwarenfabrik Geislingen-Steige in order to realize this modern invention in the field of glass technology one colorless, monochromatic tinted crystal with overlay ornamentation. But the ideal of allowing the entire range of colors to light up as desired within the glass mass itself, similar to how the ceramist knows how to nuance his glazes in color, was achieved for the first time in the Ikora crystal New technology allows previously unknown artistic effects. There is no other material known for glorious, glowing play of colors .... Every single Ikora crystal object is therefore something unique, a thoroughly original achievement (a Unica) that cannot be repeated exactly ... . "
