My best wishes to each and all of you, my friends here at CW (at least those in the U.S.A., all others too!) for a hopefully relaxing, belly-filling, friends and family seeing (finally?!), and even somewhat *explosive* day of celebration. (as appropriate for the laws and regulations of any/all local jurisdictions and with all appropriate safety precautions in place, for both Covid and boom-booms...is that enough 'disclaimer'??)
Here, yours truly is shown modeling my most appropriate vintage T-shirt for the day. Now somewhat a bit too small for me <groan> but still barely wearable, it was a bonus souvenir from the operator of a fireworks stand some ~35 yrs ago, after an hour or so's journey to the then closest state line over which fireworks could be legally bought and sold. <LOL> Making his cameo here as well, in a not inappropriate fashion, is Woda kitty the housebeast, my very own living breathing BLACK CAT. :-) :-) :-) He won't be amused later this evening when the 'hood nearby erupts in bangs and booms (again) but I'll probably be out in the country doing the same sort of activities (you might be surprised at how quickly you can drop $150 at a fireworks stand, on just 'small stuff'...?!) where it is perfectly LEGAL to do so... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Judging by U.S. news, I'm wondering it it's too late to surrender to the British. LOL
Right On Tim, I Hope The Fireworks Show was Great Happy Independence Day! Our Show Starts in about 1 1/2hrs 8:15pm here now! :^D
Quick update: We (friends and family) indeed created our own most satisfactory fireworks show, after a cookout involving *enormous* amounts of good food and fellowship before, during, and after. The kids had fun, the adults had fun, I had fun ;-) ;-) and absolutely everybody got full with *plentiful* leftovers to-go.
And as to that $150 for the smaller binful of assorted fireworks purchased yesterday...well I'd always assumed there'd be another trip to another stand today and indeed there was, where I got some "bigger stuff" too... ?? (so tack another $250 or so onto that bill... <eeek>)
Whoda thunk its so fun (after a year without, don't forget) to literally send several hundred dollars UP IN SMOKE...??? ;-) ;-) :-) :-) :-)
[and BTW, the 'hood here in town is still going strong as I type this...some of *those* bang-bang-bangs are a little too regular to be fireworks, ifn's y'all know what I mean... <lol>]
