I have absolutely no information on this little gem of a pin, however I have to post it. It is smaller than a penny, and very detailed for it's size. . Anyone know what this is or who made it?

UPDATE: this is an antique hair (wig) barrette for dolls Thank You Manikin

    Wow !
I want to thank all of you for the conversation and great information on this piece.

In fact, I have passed it on to a friend who acquired her Mother's massive Shirley Temple Doll and artifacts. My friend, Sharlene, has taken the task of preserving her Mother's treasured collection, while still displaying each item for viewing. Once it was clear to me that you all had solved the mystery of what this tiny pin was - I knew what I would do with it. Shirley now proudly wears the barrette. thank you. Lori

Just by it’s tiny size and the ribbon-looking design on it, I wonder if it was used to hold a ribbon in place on a lady’s dress or blouse.

Here is a doll with original one still in hair . They are like a safety pin and date 1900-1960s until few had them in this style . I have them on dolls from 1940s exactly same as yours :-)

Wow, thank you all. I appreciate the help. What a cool item to find in a lot of jewelry. The whole lot was only $5.00.

Glad I could help . They were used in most dolls hair and are a bear to remove ! So many dolls still have them in . I suppose someone found it and also was not sure and threw in jewelry box . I have a pair on my coffee table right now lol

The sharp point seems unnecessary for a hair barrette.
    9. Manikin Manikin, 3 years ago
Yes it does but it has a sharp point just like a safety pin watchsearcher :-)

It often was stuck into cloth that is under hair that is sewn on to a cloth cap .
