After they all ate their three bowlsful (twice) and swallowed or splashed a couple of water, then it was playtime for half an hour or so -- either wrestling/tussling with each other, playing tug-o-war with anything handy, or trying to figure out how to get tennis balls in their mouths (with surprising success, actually?!) we had NAPTIME mostly in front of the fan. Seven piled amongst themselves, Oxley and Rottsie opting for their own spots nearby (pic 2), and Oreo BabyMomma keeping watch from the edge of the patio safely out of their reach (pic 4). She's actually been spotted (oh, that bad pun again?!) playing with them in the last week or so, her mammaries naturally returning to more normal appearance and function, the little ones still try to go for it occasionally but she just bounces 'em off and they give up. They all stirred just a bit in pic 3 when I made a little noise, but nobody really moved... <lol>
Sorry for keeping on keeping on with all the puppypics, but they're (finally?) gonna be their 8wks old this coming weekend, so it *is* time for 'em to go start their new lives being somebody else's re$pon$ibility...I predict that might be a slightly messier process than I could have imagined... <sigh><groan> ...but one way or the other, I (we?) better try to enjoy their cuteness while I (we?) can. . . ???
I probably speak for many in saying we have all enjoyed them! Just need to keep Oreo away from the Pitt/Rotty now! :)
If you love pets, raising a litter of puppies is a chore to say the least, but it is an experience that everyone who loves animals should do....... at least once. You will always remember the experience with a warm heart.
Awww - adorable pups
BHIFOS, Keeping Oreo away from all non-neutered, mature, male dogs until such time as Oreo can be spayed would be a very good idea. :-)
AnythingObscure, A'ight.
I think you know why I haven't commented on Oreo's nine (!) offspring until now.
Yes, they're adorable. They're also heartbreaking.
I personally don't find stories about the putative sire amusing any more than I find those vintage "Kilroy Was Here" statuettes of an obviously very pregnant but also obviously very young human female amusing.
At eight weeks, the puppies are indeed now old enough for adoption, and hopefully they'll all find good homes, and not end up abandoned, kidnapped, killed, or otherwise abused.
