Huge large flat Willow Pattern Lacquer ware wall hanging?

Hi - does anybody know anything about this - it's HUGE - 4 ft by 3 ft and about an inch thick and very heavy. It has a willow pattern design (Chinese), but I have never seen anything like it. It appears to be made of some sort of striated wood - but it doesn't look sanded or carved, sort of molded, like pastry. It has some kind of metallic facing - could be tin or silver, or paint, or tarnished or? It's currently attached to a back board for hanging and I have not been able to tackle the task of getting it off the back board. It is in good condition, not cracked or damaged in any way so must be quite modern. Does anybody have any ideas? It was found in a dumpster.
