Last year about this time I found a Genesee Electric Co. Cast Iron Christmas Tree Stand. I bought the stand for christmas of 2020, since we were downsizing our christmas tree from 12 feet to 7.5 feet (actually was 8.5 feet).
When I got the stand home, I noticed it had knob and tube fixtures that held the under lighting, so I disassembled the stand and put modern fixtures in it. Knob and tube fixtures have a cap that screws on to the bottom of the fixture which could flare and start a fire. I re-silvered the reflecting cups with some metallic silver spray paint Repainted the frame and legs red with gold accents on the legs. It turned out great.
In 1926 people didn't put as many lights on their tree as shown on mine, for fear of tripping a fuse or breaker, so the under lights helped to really light up the tree. This year I am going to cut back on the number of lights on mine
Wow, I've never seen anything like that?! I don't suppose Underwriter's Laboratories would care for it very much, once those cups got half full of dried pine needles against the hot C-7 bulbs...? <eeek><LOL>
