    IronLace
    (928 items)

This caught my eye, & it was a must have...there's just so much fancy glass action going on here!
The vase consists of two separate thorny clear tubes which have been fused together, with an applied leaf & flower trail & green footed base. The flower is clear with a purple centre, & reminds me of something between a violet & a cyclamen. The vase has an all - over satin finish.
Vases like this have been typically attributed to Kralik.
What I am fairly sure about is that it is of Bohemian origin circa 1900.
In very good condition for its age!

I love thorn vases and this one is really beautiful and different. I've never seen a cyclamen flower before either. Congratulations on this find.

Yes, I'm a big fan of frosted clear glass, it just has that touch of magic to it...

Oh my goodness, this is just gorgeous! I love cyclamen, and have never seen one on a vase like this. It is so elegant, especially with the matte finish. I love it!

this piece would have caught my eye too ....
I can always tell one of your post, the most attractive, decorative and elegant piece of art glass. So much detail and activity on this vase, absolutely beautiful.

Many thanks, Michelle! I thought right away that this flower was one I'd never seen before on this type of vase, so that definitely added extra incentive for me to hit the buy it now button!

Thanks also, Lori, that is very nice of you to say so!
I just respond to what I love at first sight in most of my collecting. Occasionally a piece has to "grow on me" after a while, usually when I learn more about it...

Hi there, how's lockdown going? Lots of beauties like this to keep you occupied I'm sure.
You are fortunate to be in such a beautiful place, safe, settled and happy. I think we are in for this for quite a while. :(
I've been sorting boxes and boxes of glass, so much my brain has retired. My area is in total lockdown, I'm not working, 3 other people here working or studying from home. Luckily I like them all!
Hope you keep safe and sane, and can have a creative storm happening :)

Hiya Karen, nice to hear from you!
Well, I'm hanging in there, to me this one is way worse than last year & I've been losing hope to be honest. Really, really down, to be even more honest, even though I'm fully vaccinated & all the rest. This one has done my head in, sad to say.
I am working on my exhibition for next year, as I was already doing, though I don't even know now if there's going to be any exhibition.
Let's just say that I'm taking it one day at a time because that's about all I can manage at present!

well lets face it , you got a lot of endorsement here and you known why, because you deserve it, always remember that

Hang in there. Please know that I (and others) find comfort in your postings-- your online exhibitions are appreciated.

You/ your posting give me an optimistic outlook for the day!

Much appreciated, apostata, very kind of you to say so & it means a lot to me!

Thanks also, Scott, I really appreciate your thoughtful words.
I've lived with anxiety/depression since I was about 5 years old, even back then people used to say I was an old soul. There were many issues at home & within myself. Just like chronic illnesses, which I also have, the sadness comes & goes...there's a flare up now but I am working hard on it.
Got a new piece of Welz to post now... :-)

Totally hearing you Marin. I think this lockdown is dragging me down so much more too. A lot of it is because we feel so helpless with a govt acting arrogantly and negligently. I can't bear to see the daily pressers with such big numbers, no change to policy, lots of stroking of their egos and then kicking us for what is happening. We really feel the Sydney divide here because we are fully locked down and we see others in Sydney blithely carrying on. The blame game aimed at our LGAs is totally awful and makes us angry.
Yes I am fully vaccinated and my kids, in their 20s, ended up having AZ the other day. There is too much Delta around to risk no vax . I feel doomed to getting it now and just hope we all get through it without too much damage.
I'm sorry you are doing it tough too. If I could I would love to visit. I hope there is some respite when you are in creative mode but maybe, like me, you are just sitting around pretty despondent and inert. I don't know what we do about that. Even walks and nature are not always the answer. Depression is a bastard as I know and these times don't help. The spiral can deepen. I hope you know that I, like many, am so impressed with how you have battled through your life, how brave and triumphant you have been, how creative and intelligent you are, and what an awesome human you have made yourself.
Thinking of you mate. Stay safe

You're definitely in a way worse situation than me, Karen & I'm so sorry for you & your family & all the other folks out there...I think the way the situation is being handled by the government simply appalling. And of course, the ones in power, being "Teflon coated" as they tend to be, will get off "Scott Free" as always. We pay the price.
I'm staying off the news feed as much as possible, because it was doing my head in completely. Just keeping up with the basics & looking at news on other issues because there's a billion other things going on in the world as well.
Glad to hear you've had your shots though, because at least some protection is better than none at all!
I am fortunate to have nice walks around here, there are signs of Spring approaching like daffodils & plum blossom, which is nice. I'm looking forward to it warming up a tad though!
I think this time a lot of old issues have been dredged up for me, past trauma that is still below the surface, like an old injury hurting in the cold. I'm also having to face an important decision for something I am planning to do next year...which has been making me tense for most of the year, even before the lockdown.
I know I have to face it to move on to my goal, but it's scary & tough! Have been doing my therapy sessions over the phone & trying to build up to it...
My therapist's strategy from our last session was about acceptance of what I cannot control, & sitting with the bad feelings. Not giving in, but acknowledging them & feeling those feelings anyway.
And aren't we all feeling a lot of feelings!
