I customer brought this in to find out about its history. I've looked everywhere to see if it , either a sign used on a cocoa cola truck, or maybe a cooler. its very heavy, the thing is when they started making cast iron signs in the 1940's they baked the sign. this one is painted.

Does anyone know anything about this sign, its age ect. Please let me know. I will not buy a fake. I just want to surprise my husband of 30 yrs. he loves Coke.

    Thanks so much.

    Debra

I think what you have there is a piece from a bench. It would have been between the slats on the back. Unfortunately not really collectible, as in not licensed by or made for the Coca-Cola Co. I could be wrong though, hopefully one of the more seasoned coke boys will lend an opinion before you buy.

Indeed, this is a 1990's cast iron bench back to a bench that was sold at walmart in the 1990's and 2000's as "outdoor furniture". The bench and sign were licenced by Coca-Cola. Here's the bench:

Here's the original porcelain sign the back is copying:

I wouldn't buy it to suprise your husband, I would suprise him with a genuine coca-cola sign from the 40's. You can pick one up realitivly cheap if you can find one from a seller. They will usually ask 300-400 dollars. But you can probably get one that's a little banged up for 150 bucks.

Thanks everyone. But this one is very heavy, and is made of cast iron. But the ones made back in the 40's were cast in porcelain so I know this is fake.

      Thanks to everyone , again
