Here the enamelling is on a translucent base. There's a main floral scene with a butterfly for the front and a smaller sprig of flowers for the back. If the vase was placed in front of a mirrored over mantel then of course you'd also see the sprig. The rim is carved and gilded and the neck had gilded lines too. The base shows a lot of wear, traces of the gilding that was on the rim of the foot and the number of the person who did the enamelling and gilding.
On the shoulder of the vase are decorative ring handles. Other versions of this décor have 'tear drops'.

So much style! Love the serrated top in particular!
Wonderful! The applies rings are unusual; sometimes I have seen this style with applied drops before, but not the rings. Very nice! I really like this style with the cut serrated rim. Two lovely blues for you today, Peggy! :)
uauh both are beautiful glass and enamel toghether my favorites
IronLace, Me too, and I have another with a carved then gilded rim. Perhaps it's a Harrach 'thing'.
Michelle, I've seen the drops too, and like the décor either way.
Kivatinitz, I share your love of enamelling on glass.
