Rotate your photos. After the shoot, be sure to rotate your photos if needed so they appear right-side up. Images shot with a smartphone or tablet sometimes do not appear properly rotated on our site, so you may want to download photos to your [desktop] computer first and then rotate them using your [desktop] computer’s photo-editing software before uploading.

I added the word "desktop," because it doesn't explicitly tell people to use a desktop computer, but that's what they mean.
Not everybody has a desktop computer nowadays.
Try editing your photos on your input device (whatever it is), and trim them so that the long sides of the rectangular images are just a little bit shorter. Then edit your post, and replace the originals with the edited copies. Sometimes that's all it takes to straighten out the orientation.
Thanks keramikos, the first response was not helpful(as he has left this same response to several others), but yours certainly helps in detail. I have had this problem occur too and even had problems after fixing the rotation and saving on a desktop.
That last person answering is no more nice or helpful than anyone else, most people will not take the time to fix their photos so I will not answer things I know about, such as this lamp which I recognize from seeing it before. If people present their pics properly it helps rather than screwing up our necks.
I see the first picture has had its orientation straightened out. The only other thing different I see is that the properties have changed.
Yesterday, all four pictures in this post had a width of 2880 pixels, and a height of 2160 pixels. Today, the first picture is 1620 x 2160. So it went from this:
Size = 2880 x 2160 = 6.22 megapixels
Aspect ratio = 1.33
Angle of diagonal = 0.644 rad = 36.9°
Length of diagonal = 3600 pixels

To this:
Size = 1620 x 2160 = 3.5 megapixels
Aspect ratio = 0.75
Angle of diagonal = 0.927 rad = 53.1°
Length of diagonal = 2700 pixels

Photos can always be a PITA for new folks around here...welcome anyways. I bet you'll find your lamp probably a product of the 1960's-70's, maybe first part of a set including a matching 'swag' lamp. Exact identification (or dating) of these is often near impossible, simply because most weren't ever marked with a manufacturer's name. Find a nifty shade for it and enjoy it for its now 'retro' excesses?!! :-) :-) :-)
