Currently all I have to post are Matchbox cars and dinosaurs so look forward to prehistory and diecast this week. Now on with this week's exciting edition of Matchbox Monday!
This week features the Bedford Delivery van or Bedford Milk Delivery Van as it said in the catalog. It is also known as the Bedford Milk Float. People must have drank a lot of milk in the long ago. And apparently someone thought of picking up the milk with the rest of the groceries thus the end of the milkman.
The model was first introduced and sold through 1960. It was sold with metal wheels in the early days so this one is probably 1957-60 as it has grey plastic knobby wheels. An odd thing about this model is that it is large for a 1956 model. It is about the same size as s similar model would be in the late 1960s. Aside from the wheels this is an all metal casting aside from the wheels. With later models the rear cargo section would be plastic but there would be windows.
I have two new to me Matchbox models so that gives me three weeks to get another . Although I am sure I could come up with something regardless.
I’m also sure you would find us something, regardless.
I don’t know why but I always imagine dusty yellow old Bedfords would have a big end knock. Fanciful I know but entertaining.
Thank you very much racer4four. These vans could go 0-60 eventually. No more than 60.
