The Carnagie Collection brought an end to the British Museum series. These were well painted while the British Museum series were unpainted. Also the poses were a bit more action oriented . The downside is that they are not all in the same scale. These were made by Safari LTD and they are still in business making dinosaurs, farm animals and more.
Now for some background on Elasmosaurus . According to the card that came with the figure it was 46 feet long with a neck and head 26 feet long but another source says 34 feet and 23 of that being neck. Weight about 5,000 lbs or 2 1/2 tons. These always show up in prehistoric meets man movies wear some hapless guy is snagged off a raft but one of these.. I am trying to figure out the size of the head. It is small in comparison to the body but I am thinking 2 feet long with a 1 foot long jaw. Perhaps 6" wide. Anyway they ate fish and would not chow down on a raft riding human. Still they could be dangerous because they are large.
This figure is a bit under 11" from the tip of the snout to tail. That is not the straightened out length.
One last note this was note a dinosaur although it was a reptile. Lived towards the end of the dinosaur age.

Thanks for the info of the Elasmosaurus, which looks to be the ancestor of the swimming turtle. Nice pictures.

Thank you very much Newfld. You may have seen one in an old movie.

Thank you very much Alfie. I think you may have something there. That does look like like a no shell long neck turtle. And they are both reptiles.
