First post for a long time.
Anyone from England will recognise these piggie banks. Their adverts with an annoying song were all over the telly in the 1980s.
They were made by the Staffordshire pottery Wade as promotional items for Nat West bank.
The promotion ran from 1983 to encourage children to open savings accounts and save money. You got the baby pig, Woody for opening an account and were sent the next pig in the family every 6 months if your savings reached the next threshold for that pig.
All the others piggies have also names : Annabel, Maxwell, Lady Hillary and Sir Nathaniel Westminster. Very few children managed to collect the full set.
The pig family promotion ran until 1988
The idea was later used again in the 1990s with a new pig called cousin Wesley, awarded for opening a personal savings bond. Not many of these were issued due to the high initial investment required for the bond so these are Much harder to find and have been faked. Picture 4 shows a rare Cousin Wesley from the internet.
Hope I bring you luck in finding Wesley !!!!
