My late father collected all kinds of things. Among his many goodies was a small bag of pocket knives. This was the most unique.
At first I thought it was simply a novelty folding golf club, but the part that looks like a golf club is actually razor sharp.
The name LENTZ is readily seen on the shaft, but my searches on this name relating to pocket knives came up with nothing. The material of the handle feels like aluminum. Fully extended it's about 5 and 3/4 inches long.
Any information that anyone could share would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Eric
There was a company called Lentz and Sons that made surgical instruments. Perhaps this is one? It almost looks like a straight razor that has been cut down.
Hopefully someone knows.
I'm also finding LENTZ (GERMANY) straight razor-like things, some identified to be a "microscopic section cutter" (whatever that is?) that would seem to have been a medical/surgical/laboratory tool. However, I didn't find one of this 'golf club' shape. If not that type of tool, I was also wondering if it could in fact just be a straight razor, for use doing what is now called 'lining up' one's hairstyle (or facial hair) or in other words for a more precise detail trimming or shaping of same...??
I’m giving it a Love for it’s unusualness….no clue about it’s intended purpose though.
I think AO’s idea makes sense….putting thin lines or details/designs in hair sounds reasonable.
Looks like an old pipe smokers knife.
dissection tool?
A medical lance, possibly veterinary.
I’m with IRISHCOLLECTOR !!!
There some strange looking "corn" knives, for working on bunions, just a thought to consider?
I am guessing here: but........ a "fleam" for bloodletting?
I think Lance is the answer..

You guys are crazy smart. Yes! A folding scalpel/lance it seems to be. When I looked at the links from MarkMO56, the name LENTZ appears in the listings in the same typeface, so it is clear that it is a medical dissection tool. Great job, guys... Thank you so much for your time.
On another note, I'm finding all kinds of bizarre things that my dad left. I hope to upload some more photos soon and hopefully you guys could shed some light on some other really strange things he collected.
Sincerely,
Erik
