This is something very exciting for me as it is my first vintage GI Joe box. I have plenty of Marx figures in boxes but haven't picked up a GI Box until now. The main reason is that they are not free. Luckily because I worked 8 days a week I so could afford one. I don't think there were changes I know of for the period this box was used. Although the sets did change as they added new and discontinued some old ones. This box came with just the manual but I had some paperwork that came with the boxed Joes. Two of them are variations of the early catalogs and inside the box is the Join the GI Joe club paperwork. Which I did join in the long ago. I have my certificate and dog tag.
Each piece will get its own post eventually. Even the GI Joe which was already on the table before I took the photos.
Identical to the box I once owned but got rid of last year. My g.i. was blonde also and was bought in 1964 or so, cannot remember exact date except it was a July day. I never really played with it when I was a kid but the box was in excellent shape.
Fantastic find
Thank you very much Phil. Hope you found him a good home.
And thank you very much elanski!
Yes, I think I did. He came over to my home to collect him and the box, he was very happy. I always kept the boxes when I was a kid, and ashamed to say never really played with my toys but now wish I had them back in most cases.
Phil don't feel bad. I probably played with my toys too much. Didn't do anything useful.
