So in packing a few last items left, I found this old copper basket vase thingy. I dreaded the thought of keeping it because I like my things like this to shine, and we all know what that takes... Or so I thought!

My friend introduced me to the best darn cleaner ever!

    Bar Keepers Friend.
I used it on this piece, see the before and after. I swear, this took less than 5 minutes. No scratches and no sore hands or fingers from scrubbing & rubbing!

    Had to share!

(I also have no idea how to get to my profile page from anything other than my PC, so hope you all liked my Fenton Lamps)

    Xoxo

Hi Trey!!! So good to see you! You use bkf to clean your signs? Wow, I'm surprised at that. I'd have thought it would remove the paint. This stuff is the best. It even removes scratches made by knives on old plates too. Pretty amazing stuff. Thanks for stopping in. Xoxo

Ususally powder can scratch, maybe not powder !~

Barkeepers Friend can indeed remove metal marks from china, but it's prudent to test it first in an inconspicuous location, because it contains oxalic acid, and can dull the finish. Overall, a great product. :-)

Hey Phil! Apologies for taking so long to get back to everyone. I thought the same as you, and yes, it is powder, pretty much like comet and ot Ajax but surprisingly enough, it does the job on metal without scratching it!

Keramikos, just last night I actually did use it on a piece of china, it was dull to begin with yet it also had a very dark stain and had lots of crazing. I figured it wouldn't hurt the piece so I went for it. I did a quick job of it and it did remove some of the stain but felt the crazing was so bad, it was beyond repair. I have to say, Im with you on the dulling part. I don't think I'd try it on anything special. We'll see!

Thanks to all that stopped by!!!

shareurpassion, Yep, I use it all the time on ordinary household items, but a cherished ceramic piece that's been in the family for two, three, or four generations would be another matter.

Ahh, I was wondering if that would work on a lamp I have!!!

Seems I'm in good company with that thought

Keramikos, I get it and have had the same reservations. I was completely surprised to know Trey has used the same thing on his signs! I have tried it on some pieces where it didn't work but of course I can't think of what it didn't work on at the moment...

Gudrun, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just make it a paste and use an old washcloth.
