Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Dragon Humidor circa 1910 to 1935?
my father always said boy keep your mouth shut, then you never get in trouble, and later he asked me why did you do it , i am beyond repair repair Pa
so lets give it a try,, although it is too difficult to me
Actually Truth or Dare is the far better expert
chasing the flaming pearl design
the stylised pearl probably narrows it down from early guanghu to mid republic period
cloud design - rather well cross hatch and dots skin of the dragon
mocca rim
equivalent on chinese porcelain waves and fire flares ( guangxu period)
IMO i tend to late Guanghu period in stead of Republic period
so i take the easy way out late Guangxu
quality better then mediocre, is it an humidor , i don,t know probably not
best Regards Waki and - pas op de Hibiscus ( = don,t jump on the Hibiscus) the name of my cat
Thanks apostada, I think I am seeing a timeline between 1916 and 1949. a near average piece maybe late Guangzhou period 1925? Is it a humidor? It could be. It has a wooden interior panels very well fit but no smells or sign of tobacco. It is 7 3/8" x 4 1/2" x 3" so it could accommodate cigars and there are no dividers for change or lining for jewelry. I am seeing some other similar dragons chasing this flaming pearl . Thanks and any thoughts on this other box? https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/294834-brass-treasure-chest-jewelry-box-china?in=all
To nail down the timeline a bit more, the cloud cloisonnes in the background helpful. They indicate a date between 1910 and 1935. Very Swirly. ;)
Nice box, I'm hoping to find one for myself one of these days.
