It looks like the person on Esty he’s using it for twine holder but
I’m not sure if it’s a twine holder
I got one just like it as a head shop in the 70s
ait was sold with a candle holder on the inside
And they had a bunch of them like that
But then again I don’t know anything
it seems like the more I know the less I do

String holder it is. In the old days ( I'm old, 80 years) most stores had a version of this. Before plastic there was wrapping paper and boxes that had to be tied with string.

Congcu I think you’re probably zRight
I just came across some enterprising hippies
      selling them as candleholders
With a cool shadow light from the top
      In darkened room
(wow i’m freaking out man )

I met a fellow in town here that had over 800 different string dispensers. Some cast and lots of paper mache?? In designs of cats, dogs, and other animals and birds. Pottery, ceramic and glass too. Different strokes for different folks!
