Iola, Wisconsin Old Car Show Lapel Badges
The Iola Old Car Show has grown to be one of the largest national car shows since the first show in the early 1972. The first lapel badges were produced for the 1980 show as admission passes. Since then the badges have specialized and evolved into a serious collectible field with a small but dedicated following. Here are a few examples; 1981 KP Worker badges which enabled Krause Publications employees to enter the car show grounds, which encircled the KP building, in order to go to work without paying an admission fee. The regular show workers (volunteers) also had their own badges in 1981. Members of the public who paid the admission fee were given “I Attended” badges which served as passes for the entire two day show. Eventually these became the General Admission badges. Venders and exhibitors were given “Participant Badges”. Over the years other titles have appeared on the badges like “Special Work Crew” “Special Show Car Participant“ “Special Exhibit“ “Participant Blue Ribbon” “Child Admission” and best of all my favorite “Security”.
