I usually don't go in for such as this clock, but this one became an itch that I had to scratch. It arrived in two boxes, four main stacking parts in the center and a myriad of ornaments that attach to the center section (a big French Monkey puzzle). I do not know who sits on the clock finial, but he is a writer, he has his paper, but his pen is missing, (I'll find a bird feather for him to write with).
The center consists of 4 stackable sections which are joined by two long rods that run through the center of the stacks, they are held in place by two wooden blocks at the bottom. Japy Freres made the movement, but the clock manufacturer is unknown. Most of the work on the clock took place at my desk in the office. The clock is a massive 18.5" tall, 13.5" inches wide, and 5.6" in depth. The clock keeps accurate time for it's age. I didn't think the clock would work, it does.
