was driving through a small town on my way to the city saw an antique store that i have not been to before. thought i better check it out and found this sign inside. i thought it was priced pretty fair for being in an antique store couldnt leave it behind so i took it home. got looking through my books and i cant find this exact sign. i found one similar but has any one seen this sign? im a little worried about it being a repro i dont come across the US signs too often so its hard to tell them apart. if you have any idea when it was made please let me know.

Trev, I wouldn't worry too much about it being a repro. I've always liked the sled signs I see 'em for sale every now and then, but always at the wrong time for me, lol. Did you get Petretti's 12 th yet? Page 207 has a big, similar one.

no cheapin out on the 12 th edition lol really need to go and order one. i see a similar one in one of my books but it says drink coca cola in bottles mine just says coca cola. have you seen ones that say just coca cola? also what do you see them going for? and if you dont mind me asking what do you think mine is worth in its present condition (just wondering, dont mean to be a pain).

there was a rash of them on ebay a little bit ago going for a wide range of $$, yours looks like the smaller version, I wouldn't feel bad about giving 125 or a bit more for that size in that shape. No pain either. CCKid or earlycoke might have better insight for us though.....

thanks for your comment tommy1002 i wouldnt mind hearing what CCkid or earlycoke thinks of the sign. a date would be great im hoping 1950's not sure if im right tho.

Very Nice Sign. It's not a repro Trevor. I have the same basic sign, 16"x44" sled, mine printed "Drink...in Bottles", with the identical Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. trademark detail. I think they're finished porcelain over metal. Mine had the original mounting brackets attached (which I am currently selling on eBay... shameless plug). Seller estimated the sign was first put up approx 1959 in San Diego, so I believe mine (and yours) to be manufactured during the 50's. I paid $350 delivered Calif to Mich. The one I purchased is in beautiful condition except for the 1/2 dozen drill holes someone put through it when another sign was attached over it (seller claimed this is what kept the Coke sign protected all those years outside in San Diego). I see signs like yours go for 150-200 USD on eBay . Hope this helps. Someday I'll post a picture of mine. You've got a cool one there. -- Dave

terapeak only has 7 listed in past 90 days, only 1 (big one) went for $ 290. I'd say late 50's also maybe early 60's.

Trevor, check out currently listed eBay item #280734639516 very similar to yours.

These ones are all made of tin, from the 1950's. At my local antique supercenter, you can find 2 or 3 of them, all priced for 500 dollars EACH, but that's just for some sucker who doesn't know what they're worth. I'd say this one, in the condition it's in, is worth maybe 125-135 bucks Top Dollar.

thanks alot guys and thank you very much daddy_nobucks i was glad to see that sign you showed me on ebay. its abit bigger than mine tho did they make these signs in different sizes? also i thought americian signs were more desirable? i rarely see canadian porcelain signs in this condition going for 125$-135$ but american 1950's porcelain signs for 135$ once in a blue moon. i was lucky enough to talk the antique store i got this sign from down to 135$ plus tax, but i guess according to CCkid97 thats top dollar. i gotta say i was pretty surprised to hear that, i thought i got myself a good deal. either way im just glad its not a repo im happy with what i paid for my 1950's porcelain sign :)

They were indeed made different sizes. I've seen larger versions of mine which is 16x44. Yours looks to be 12x36, thereabouts? It's a nice sign, I think you paid a fair price. Hey, every Coca-Cola sign collector's gotta have a sled, right? : ) You know it!

i was not sure what the measurements were on mine so i thought i better go look for my measuring tape and see. finally found my measuring tape and found out my sign is the same as the one on ebay. its 16" x 43.5" and yes every coca cola collector gotta have a sled. im surprised these signs were not made in canada us canadians love sleds lol. i heard stories of the 48" round porcelain button signs (the ones made in the 1950's) were really good for sleding. not that i have tried myself just a story i heard... wouldnt surprise me if it were true people did crazy things back in the day.

Hey Trevor, That sled like yours (though yours is in better condition) went for $255+$42 shipping.

As long as there are still folks out there that are hungry for these and they keep selling like that on feebay, I think you did just fine as long as you like it. And did you say back in the day? LOL
