This may be the oldest Boy Scout shirt I have so far. With a patch from 1951 it most likely the shirt is from 1951 or earlier, possibly even the late 1940s.
It is also an Explorer shirt which is the next step from Boy Scouts which is older teens and young adults. Now usually Explorer Scouts have a different shirt from Boy Scouts but this is a Boy Scout shirt with Boy Scout patches and explorer patches. There is a sea scout patch on the right shoulder I will get to someday.
Left pocket has 2 Cub Scout Service Stars and 1 Explorer Scout Star. Odd there is no Boy Scout service star. The Boy Scout rank of 1st class scout is present.
Right Pocket has the Camporee patches that date the shirt.
Right Sleeve has the City Stripe of Glendale which is next to Pasadena where I got the shirt. It is Troop 3 probably an Explorer troop and Boy Scout position of Librarian.
Now I need to find a Matchbox to post for tomorrow.
PS the shirt has metal buttons.
very nice uniform!!!
Cody is looking schmick!
