While digging in my garden I once found the Spanish coppercoin, diam. 17 mm, you see on the first photo. Since then I've been trying to identify it. And maybe I have ?! On photo 2 and 3 you see the obverse and reverse of a Spanish Ardit struck by Philip IV (1605-1665) in the period 1621-1625. What do you think ? Is my identification right or wrong ?
ok - did you edit and not include pic 3? or did I miss it ?
it definitely has similarities - could you position your coin in the same direction as the sample that would help?
Now better position, I hope. I can recommend the enlargement function.
From the photos I would agree they are pretty close - I would continue to check this out ...you might want to test the material to see if it is copper aged to that era, better yet try determine if copper can survive in the ground and what happens when it does sit in the ground. Lori
