This is one heavy duty piece of Thermalware. It weighs 9 1/2 pounds empty. It is a foot tall and nine inches tall and holds one gallon.
Now is this a thermos? I think not as it is not a Thermos brand Thermos. It is made by Aladin which is the company that made all those lunchboxes in the 60s and 70s that are so collectible. The ones that aren't worth much without the thermos but those are actually Aladin brand thermoses. If you call those this is much like those with the insulated lid to the cup.
Now this is much older than the lunchboxes, or at least a bit older. One source says 1920s but not sure about it. The font style does look older. I don't like to make a date estimate without solid evidence. The company has been around since 1904.
I looked and saw a couple ads from 1923 & 24 that say patented.. so must be early 20's? Where's Keramikos..our patent search expert..
Actually I just noticed the front of yours says patented..hard to read but I think that's what it says? But the lid says patent pending...thats what I was searching off of
Thank you very much Dave for doing my research. I think that is good enough, thanks again.
Different patents for parts of the thermos.
