Hello I found this year’s ago but it’s been packed in a box that I’ve just opened, I never found out how old it is but I know I’ve had it for at least 10.
Would be great to find out more about it please

      This seems hand painted

The bird is a phoenix, associated with heat and fire, so appropriate for a teapot. Made for export, post 1950s, exemplified by the JAPAN mark and wire handle.

I don't think it is hand painted, but perhaps done using a combination of transfers and stencils. Note yellow in the three teacups on the lid are all offset the same distance in the same direction, which suggests the use of a stencil to me. There may be some hand painting, but there is a lot going on with this teapot, very busy, and hard to spot definite hand painting. If it was hand painted, I would expect to see a hesitation mark or two somewhere. I do see some variation in the thickness of some lines, but not enough for me to conclude it is free hand painting.

Someone else may have a better eye or more patience than I have for doing a detailed examination (scratches belly, belches, starts staring off into the distance...).

      Very pretty pot.
