Help!
I am unsure of what I have stumbled across! My husband brought home this beautiful tea set but am having a hard time finding any information on it! I would really love to know around the time it was made& why I can't find any information on "Derby Silver Plate CO" but can find information on Derby Silver CO. Any information or knowledge that you could lend a "wanna be" antique collector would be greatly appreciated!
-3 Piece Derby Silver Plate Co.
-Tray Derby Silver Plate Co.
-Serial # on bottom of each item (tea set matches, tray is different)
-The serial numbers are only a 6 number difference
-On front of the tea set there is a "F" engraved
-On the tea set plate there are flowers
Thank you so much for your time!
The Derby Silver Company sometimes used the name Derby Silverplate Company. They merged with other companies and formed International Silver Co. In 1898.
Should your pieces have to be before that..
I hate we can't edit...your pieces have to be before the merger, because then the international and Derby mark combo were used..
Thank you so much!
That is so freakin' cool! Wow! Those are old!
Just a note to say, the lines of these pieces are unbelievably elegant! What a delight to look at! Especially the pot. Wow.
Also, I think what you have here may be a coffee set (coffee service) rather than a tea service, as coffee pots tended to be tall and slender like this one, whereas the tea pots tended to be shorter and rounder. Of course, you can use either to contain whatever drink you want! But if you're looking for similar sets, you may want to search under "coffee", too ;)
Coffee set is SOOOO much better!
It does have little holes on the inside! Thank you so much for the information! :)
