Firstly, my shame in taking so long to introduce another curiosity .. shown here for comparison, the relatively common BROWN bakelite trinket box (c. 9x3 inches), one of numerous souvenirs ahead of what became a cancelled 1949 New Zealand Royal Tour, due declining health of King George VI . My truly heart-stopping find in 2021 was this bizarrely MOTTLED GREEN "seaweed" version (as I like to describe this), possibly an unissued experimental, in absolutely mint condition - as you can see, the interior is a much brighter green than the outer. Have spent fruitless hours online trying to find an image and information on this peculiarly patterned green example. A quest for bakelite enthusiasts to possibly comment on here ! Many people would perhaps shrink at the "ugly" mottling, yet those like me (and you?) find sheer beauty in the bizarre and this box is highly prized in my collection. George VI passed on Feb 6, 1952, meaning Princess Elizabeth immediately became Queen Elizabeth II that day, while she was in Kenya with Prince Philip ... her Platinum accession anniversary is Feb 6, 2022, with UK celebrations delayed until a four-day extended weekend public holiday in June, duly respecting her father's passing during the postponed four months. The queen's coronation Platinum is June 2023 ... a further enthralling Royal celebration.
Maybe a pounamu green would be a better description?
Cool Find:) Love the color:)
