I have to say that Loetz’s Argentan décor has been one that I have wanted for ages. I fell in love with all the examples I saw, and always hoped to own one of my own. Each piece has a different pattern of broken foil contained within the glass, making them glitter in a special way. As a Christmas gift from my wonderful husband, this vase appeared under the tree for me, all the way from Germany. It is in the beautiful color ‘violett’, and is PNII-5647, dating to 1908. It is a little one at only 3.7in (9.3cm) tall, but big in impact!
I do love this decor as well, Michelle, I hope to one day come across one too..I think the shape of yours shows it off beautifully.
Thanks so much Penny! I am sure that with your eye, you will find one. I wish my photos showed how pretty it is in person, but it was a bit hard to photograph, I think due to all the slivery flecks!
It is beautiful Michelle.
This type of expanded foil pattern is one the Japanese took onboard after the war.
They knew a good thing when they saw it!
Totally magical!
The decor reminds me of raindrops streaming down a window...captured forever in glass. What a wonderful gift!
bellísimo and IronLace is right it reminds the drops over the grass in the first morning hours
Thank you Karen - I had no idea the Japanese used this technique, too! I will have to look up some examples!
Thank you Marin; I love your description! It was a special gift - he does spoil me! :)
kivatinitz, thanks so much! I know exactly what you mean. :)
What a lovely addition to your amazing collection, Michelle. The colour is a delight, and not often seen if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks so much Peggy! Yes, it is quite unusual; I love the color - I am glad you do, too! :)
