This is more of an update than a new post. Oddly I found a pair for a Harrach vase I've only owned for a few months. Though they seem a pair and display well as a pair there are differences. The floral designs on front , back and sides of vase 1 are all different from those on vase 2. Makes me wonder how many designs Harrach had in use, On the other hand the white enamel designs on all the 'cut off' corners are identical.
Very pretty....
Glad you like them.
So pretty!
Mrstyndall, thank you.
thus a tru complementary pair
I can imagine that painters had free hands to some extent and could diversify details within one style and general picture.
Just so Sylvia. I hadn't come across the description, 'complementary pair' previously but I'll be using it in future. Fits like a glove!
I was happy to read your comment Iwona as I was thinking that too. It makes sense. Seems the butterflies were rationed though! I also think it's good to have and handle several examples of any style of glass. It's an education.
Anyway,if I had been a painter in Harrach (?!),I would have done that:)
I love these, Peggy. I think having different flowers on them makes them a more interesting and engaging pair! :)
And with your knowledge of flora, Michelle, I bet you could name every single one, common and botanical names! I knew they had different designs before buying but thought that rather nice.
