I received these beautiful sculptures as a gift a bout 15 years ago. The only thing I know about them is that the woman who gave them to me got them from her husband. His father worked for Standard Oil in China in the early 1900's. That is when they were acquired. Each one is signed on bottom. I have always wondered about the origin of these statues and would any help in my research. I know the family was in China but I don't even know if they are Chinese in origin? Can anyone tell me any information just by looking at them?

this is likely pre ban , so you need an art 2 regulation =ec no338/97 an so called before 01 june 1947 clearance

imo opinion this is very good stuff look at the folds in the garments, only you live in the wrong state in in the VS the red tape is awfull there and they are very rigid , IMO the value is an lot doekoe

enhance the marks big size and send them to the assessor

I am thinking they are mammoth Ivory Japanese okimono figures . Very very nice !

But their eyes seem shaped more Chinese so I will await someone else to determine country of origin .

you are probably better of with manikin then because i don,t know s,,,about this , and i think you are stuck for different reasons

first of all it is a okimono, but that is container understandingan kakuregasa ( invisible hat) is okimono)and kagamibuta ( mirror lid is okimono etc )

personnaly i thjink this is Japanese haistyle, cloths , robe ring , the whole appearence the Chinese part is more frolicsome

it,s all about Shreger lines real ivory or the marine,s (fish) this aint marine , and it is all about Taishjo versus versus Meiij

so enhance the bottom ( nation wide , because i can hardly see), and maybe i recognize ( chance of an snowflake in hell)

the other option is an expert , but you got to deliver and not many experts are real good because they are certified for asiatica , but don,t have to be certified for okimono or netsuke, and they cover their basis and you have to deliver , provenance , and the main problem is it is always on the escape possibilty ASSESMENT FROM THE PICTURE !!!

i don,t know s,,, about this in mine opinion it is rather well Meijji ivory

so it,s about the size , its about being a set ( no social antroposophical set as far as i know)
      it is about Shjreger lines
and it is about taisho versus Mejji

The only real good way out is Asian Art Forum ( i am not qualified), they are topnotch assessors and that is an understatement !

subscription i believe 27 dollars , and NEVER TALK !!about value, they are real nice people , just asked is the mark is it MEjji (imo yes)and compare the appearede with the market prices , another benefit there is almost no expert who dare to refute the asian art forum experts, so in stead of paying 150 dollars for an licenced assessor you pay 27 dollars for an subscription

i don,t know what it is good quality, maybe a sort of chuichi or shigekazu , i am completely guessing , without mark
