This is a really nice Kutani vase with a dragon. Lots of gilding and it is in good shape. The background behind the dragon looks like grisaille, but i'm not that familiar w/ that. One very odd thing about this vase - it's filled w/ cement? to make it very heavy?

Thanks to Sandra Andacht, i know that this piece is by Watano, late 19th, early 20th c.

i got an layman question , imo opinion this is the motamachi part , so probably yokohama outsourced this but to whom.
    5. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
Watayasu ?? Sei , so the question is can we differentiate yokoyame style 1885 up

      correction Yokohama,

Watano Yasutaro ?? ???. This merchant opened a shop in Yokohama in 1885. The mark reads Watano and there was more than 1, and Yasutaro Watano was not the only Kutani merchant/produced who moved to Yokohama.

The mark on the piece under discussion does not read Watano Yasutaro. Just reads Watano.
I tried to post the kanji but it comes up as ???

Posting about the tile/tray has taken up too much and I am behind in workload. I do not think I will find time on a daily basis to post here.
